David West of Lusk is a solid all-around athlete and will continue his track and field career at Chadron State College in Nebraska. At the 2023 State Outdoor Track Meet, West placed 6th in the 2A 800-meter run in 2.02.91 and holds the school record in that event. He took 14th in the 2A 1600 meters with a clocking of 5.02.58. West also competed in the 2A pole vault and cleared 10-6 to place 9th.

In his sophomore season, West was on the Lusk 4x800 relay team that took 6th at the 2A 2022 State Outdoor track meet and also qualified for State in the pole vault.

West has been a contributor to the Lusk football team as he rushed for 314 yards and 3 touchdowns and caught 11 balls for 104 yards and a TD in his senior year. In his junior season, he picked up 629 yards on the ground with 6 touchdowns and grabbed 15 passes for 173 yards and a score.

Chadron State is a Division II school that competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
