Pair of Cody Athletes Sign College Letters of Intent

Two Cody High School athletes will continue their journey at the college level and both are highly decorated in their prep careers. Molly Hays will be going to Idaho State University for basketball and she is a three-time all-state selection in 4A. In the 2022-23 season, Cody won the 4A state championship going 25-0 and Hays was the leading scorer in 4A throwing in 20 points a game. She shot an astounding 57% from the floor and 84% from the free-throw line.

In her sophomore season in 2021-22, Hays averaged 15.8 points a game which led 4A shooting 47% from the floor. The Fillies finished 2nd at the State Tournament that season going 24-1. In her freshman season, Hays averaged 11 points per game shooting 48% from the floor as the Fillies finished 2nd at the 4A State Tournament. She's also a two-time all-state pick in volleyball.

Ada Nelson will run track and cross country and Montana State University. She had a terrific 2023 4A Outdoor State Track Meet in May with a 2nd place finish in the 800 meters in 2.14.45 and placed 2nd in the 1600 in 5.09.83. Her 4x800 relay team won the state championship and broke the overall state record in the process in 9.26.48. Nelson's 1600 medley relay team also won a state title in 4A in 4.12.26.

Back in 2022, Nelson was 3rd in the 800 at the State Outdoor track meet and her 4x800 relay team ran 9.39.37 to win the 4A state championship. Her 4x400 relay team placed 5th at state. Nelson turned in a sensational effort at the 2023 Indoor State Track Meet by winning the 800 in 2.16.99 and setting the 3A class record in the process. Her 4x400 relay squad set a class record en route to the 3A title in 4.13.75. In addition to that, the Cody 4x800 relay team took the top of the podium with a class record time of 10.17.89. She finished 2nd in the 1600 at the State Indoor meet and the Fillies won the state championship in the 4x400 meter relay. Nelson is also an all-state volleyball player in 2023.

Both Idaho State and Montana State are members of the Big Sky Conference.
