The Lusk football team made the drive down Highway 85 to Yoder to take on Southeast and these rivals know each other very well. Coming into the game, both teams were in the top 5 in total offense in 1A 9-Man football but this game did not have much offensive firepower.

Southeast drew first blood on a 6-yard touchdown pass from Ayden Desmond to Chase Sauer. The extra point was missed and the Cyclones led 6-0. As it turned out, that was the only time in the game that they reached the end zone.

It was a supreme defensive battle all the way through and Lusk didn't get to the end zone until the 4th quarter as Ridge Kupke got in from the 2-yard line to even the game at 6. The Tigers elected to go for 2 and made it giving them an 8-6 lead. That's the way it stood; an 8-6 game and you don't see that very often.

Lusk is 2-2 and will have a gigantic home game this week against #1 Pine Bluffs. Southeast falls to 3-1 on the year and will be at Guernsey-Sunrise on Friday. Lisa Shaw has some photos that she is sharing of this SE-Lusk game and that can be located in our gallery below. Enjoy!
