One of the premiere games in Wyoming high school football in week 9 was a big 1A 9-Man encounter as #1 Big Piney traveled to Pavillion to take on #3 Wind River. The visiting Punchers got on the scoreboard first with a 1-yard run from Reuben Stoutenberg to make it 7-0. The Cougars answered with a TD of their own in the 2nd quarter as quarterback Cooper Frederick found Aidan Ruby for 16 yards and a touchdown and with the successful two-point try it was 8-7

The intensity and the scoring picked up in the 3rd quarter as Ruby returned the 2nd half kickoff 98 yards and a touchdown and that was quite a play. The two-point try failed so the Cougars had a 14-7 lead. The Wind River defense turned in a huge play as Frederick stepped right in front of a Champ Snively pass for the interception and returned it 78 yards to the house. The two-point try was good so The Cougars at this point led 21-7.

Big Piney got some momentum back as Snively hooked up with Jerret Fear on a touchdown connection that covered 48 yards and the Punchers were right back in the game trailing 21-14. Wind River responded with a 1-yard TD from Chris Burk and that made it 28-21. Big Piney stayed in the game with a 9-yard scamper to the end zone to cut the gap to 28-21. Wind River killed the clock from there on out to improve to 3-0 on the year.  The Cougars will be at Wyoming Indian this week. Big Piney drops to 3-1 and they will be at home this week against St. Stephens.
