One week away from tip off, is usually the time to find out where teams stand, before the season actually starts.

Gillette tops the 4A coaches/media poll at #1 and returns Cody Kelley...the reigning Wyoming Gatorade Player of the Year. He will be a target for many opponents. Kelly Walsh gradually got better last season...and beat the Camels in the 3rd place game. The voters think the trend will continue and thus slotted the Trojans at #2. There's a big gap in the rankings after that. Evanston will have to settle for the #3 ranking for now, and will have to prove on opening day at #5 East. Meanwhile, Sheridan starts at #4, by 1 vote ahead of the Thunderbirds.

Like the girls 3A poll, the boys 3A poll has the top 2 teams from last season, starting in reverse order. Powell is #1, ahead of defending champ and #2 Star Valley. The 2 teams have to wait until the second weekend of the season, to square off vs. each other. From there it's the east that owns the rest of the rankings. Rawlins checks in at #3 (The Outlaws play the top ranked Panthers on opening weekend in Cody), followed by Douglas and Buffalo.

Wyoming Indian is in a familiar spot...on top of the 2A rankings. Although they will not prove it on opening weekend, because they don't start until the weekend after. Until then, #2 Lusk will try to make a case, because the Tigers received more first place votes. Defending state champ Lovell is ranked #3, followed by Big Horn at #4 and Burns at #5. Big Horn will have the tough opening weekend schedule, going to Lusk to play both the second-ranked Tigers, and the fifth ranked Broncs.

A huge majority of the 1A voters say it's Burlington, and then everyone else. After that, the rest of the spots are close to each other. Kaycee checks in at #2, with Meeteetse one vote back at #3, and Little Snake River, an additional vote back at #4. Guernsey and Cokeville tie for the #5 ranking.
