Fall Sports Over, Winter Begins Today

The winter sports season is underway today with first practices for basketball and wrestling.    Defending boys hoops champions are: 4A Gillette, 3A Buffalo, 2A Big Horn, and 1A Little Snake River.   Girls champs a year ago were 4A Gillette,  3A Wheatland, 2A Lovell, and 1A Cokeville.    In Wreslting,  Gillette won their 9th straight title in 4A. Worland won their first since 2001 while Cokeville won their fifth in the last six years.

Wyowrestling.com actually has their pre season rankings posted on their website.   Gillette and Cokeville  are favored for repeats in their first poll of the year while they have listed Douglas as the team to beat in 3A.

Swimmers will get their seasons going a bit later as will Indoor Track who waits till after the first of the year to compete.   First swim competitions will be the second week of December.       Ski teams also will begin soon.
