Since Gillette went to a two-high school system back in 2017, Thunder Basin has dominated Campbell County in football. In the first 6 years of rivalry, the games have been lopsided but Campbell County turned the tables as they routed Thunder Basin on Friday 49-17.

The Camels asserted themselves early as quarterback Mason Drube found Adam Gibson for 79 yards and a touchdown which was followed by a TD run by Drube. The momentum for Campbell County continued in the 2nd quarter with Drube hooking up with Seth Peterson for a 17-yard touchdown. The Camels were starting to pile it on as junior Trent Rosenau found the end zone in the 2nd quarter and then Peterson added another TD catch. Campbell County was having their way with a 35-3 lead at the halftime break.

Drube added a 2nd half rushing touchdown and it was a tough evening all the way around for Thunder Basin. Campbell County is in prime position for a home playoff game in 4A with a record of 5-1. The Camels have a big road showdown with 5-1 Casper-Natrona on Friday night.

Thunder Basin sits at 3-3 and has lost their last 2 games. The Bolts will be on the road this week in Laramie. We have some first-class photos of the contest in Gillette compliments of Kellie Jo Allison and they can be found in our gallery below. Enjoy!
