Cody has been marching through the 3A football schedule with just one loss this season and really asserted themselves in a 42-14 home win over Douglas in the opening round of the playoffs. Both teams endured cold temperatures and some snow with Cody nearly running the ball at will. They rang up over 350 yards on the ground and running back Grady McCarten continued his outstanding season with 4 rushing touchdowns. Owen Peterson also found the end zone on the ground and the Bronco defense was opportunistic. They forced a couple of turnovers and kept the pressure on the Douglas offense from the line of scrimmage.

Cody was the 3A runner-up last season to Star Valley and those two teams are on a collision course for a rematch in a couple of weeks. Cody is 9-1 on the year and will host 5-5 Evanston on Friday in the semi-finals. Douglas ended the year at 6-3 and saw their 3-game winning streak broken with that loss on Friday. The Bearcats have been one of the more consistent programs in Wyoming High School football and the last time they missed the playoffs was way back in 2001.
