Tongue River didn't waste any time asserting themselves vs. Newcastle on Friday night in the 2A football ranks. The Eagles rang up 34 points in the first half and coasted to a 54-7 win to get to 4-0 on the year.

In the opening quarter, Tongue River's Connor Cummins blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown to put the Eagles in front for good at 7-0. Tongue River doubled the lead as Cummins scrambled 13 yards to the end zone and that was allowed a 10-yard run for a score from Alex Barker so the lead was 20 after 1 quarter of play.

Cummins and Barker each had 2-yard runs for touchdowns in the 2nd quarter and Barker came up with a pick-six in the 3rd quarter, Colter Hanft also scored for Tongue River in the 3rd and Caleb Kirkbride caught a TD ball in the 4h quarter. Newcastle's lone score came in the 4th as Landon Hathaway galloped 54 yards to the end zone.

Tongue River is on the road again this week at Torrington while 1-3 Newcastle has a road game vs. Upton-Sundance in Upton on Friday. Take a peek at some first-class photos of that TR-Newcastle game courtesy of Susan Bullard. Those images can be found in our gallery below. Enjoy!
