Wyoming Wrestlers Competing At 2013 National High School National Championship Tournament

They are the best in the Cowboy State for 2013…now it’s time to see how they stack up to the rest of the USA.

24 wrestlers from various Wyoming high schools are competing at the 2013, National High School Coaches Association Folkstyle Wrestling National Championship Tournament in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

It’s seniors vs. seniors, juniors vs. juniors, and so forth, as grapplers try to place in the top 8 nationally in their weight class, which is what is need to gain All-American status.

Wrestlers begin competition on Thursday, April 4th, except for seniors, who start the following day.

Wrestlers listed by grade level, weight class, where they placed at the state tournament in February, 2013, and their record at nationals

Freshman 113 lbs.: Taylor Jeffries – Gillette (State Champ)…4-2. Missed All-American by 1 match.

Freshman 113 lbs.: Steven Lahnert – East (3rd Place)…3-2. Lost vs. Jeffries in the consolation bracket.

Freshman 113 lbs.: Trent Olson – Gillette (State Champ at 106)…5-1 National Runner-Up. All-American

Freshman 113 lbs.: Nathan Parris – Central (State Runner-Up)…5-2. Missed All-American status by 1 match.

Freshman 120 lbs.: Ryder Jones – Central (4th Place)…1-2

Freshman 126 lbs.: Brady Vogel – Gillette (5th Place at 120)…2-2

Sophomore 106 lbs.: Kyle Burton – Buffalo (State Champ)…Lost first match, and was matched up with another Burton from South Carolina in the consolation round, but they never specified which Burton won. So he either went 0-2 or 1-2.

Sophomore 113 lbs.: Terrance McDonough – East (4th Place at 106)…1-2

Sophomore 126 lbs.: Isaac Garcia – East (State Runner-Up)…2-2

Sophomore 152 lbs.: Jordan Fischer – Gillette (State Champ)…6-3 6th Place. All-American

Sophomore 160 lbs.: Ben Flickinger – Jackson (4th Place)…0-2

Sophomore 182 lbs.: Tevis Bartlett – East (State Champ at 195)…5-0 National Champion and All-American.

Sophomore 182 lbs.: Tory Music – Sheridan (State Runner-Up)…0-2

Junior 113 lbs.: Evan Smith – Gillette (State Runner-Up at 120)…5-2. Missed All-American by 1 match.

Junior 126 lbs.: Bryce Meredith – Central (State Champ at 132)…4-3 6th Place. All-American.

Junior 138 lbs.: Alex LaCasse – Gillette (State Champ)…0-2

Junior 138 lbs.: Kristopher Miller – Gillette (State Runner-Up at 132)…4-2

Junior 182 lbs.: Cody Delk – Sheridan (State Runner-Up at 220)…4-3 6th Place. All-American.

Junior 182 lbs.: Brendon MacKearney – Gillette (3rd Place at 195)…1-2

Junior 220 lbs.: Brett Schaeffer – East (3rd Place)…2-2

Senior 138 lbs.: Dani Fischer – Gillette (State Champ at 145)…2-2

Senior 152 lbs.: Lukas Poloncic – Gillette (State Champ at 160)…2-0, but had to take 2 injury defaults after that and could not continue.

Senior 285 lbs.: Taylor Barbour – Gillette (State Champ)…2-2 Missed All-American by 1 match.

Senior 285 lbs.: D.J. Doolin – Gillette (3rd Place)…0-2
