Our fan-voted large school WyoPreps Game of the Week for football takes us to Park County, as No. 3 Powell hosts No. 4 Douglas on Friday night.

The Panthers are 3-0, while the Bearcats enter the game 2-0.

Powell opened the season with a 42-24 victory over Riverton in Week 0. Since then, they have shut out their last two opponents by a score of 101-0. The Panther defeated Worland, 51-0, and Lander, 50-0.

Douglas began the year with a 35-19 win over Jackson and beat Gering, NE, 40-6, last week.

These two teams have posted similar numbers on offense. Douglas averages 360 yards per game, while Powell is at 355. The Panthers have an advantage on the ground (225-183), while the Bearcats have the edge through the air (177-130).

Defensively, Powell allows only 182 yards per game. Douglas gives up 284 yards per game.

The Panthers are paced by running back Cody Seifert at 135.7 yards per game with 9 TDs. QB Jhett Schwahn throws for 130 yards per game.

The Bearcats counter with QB Trey Rinn. He averages 100 yards rushing and throws for 177 yards per game. He has accounted for eight touchdowns. Trennan Pearson is the top target with 9 receptions for 154 yards and four TDs.

WyoPreps caught up with Douglas head coach Jay Rhoades and Powell head coach Chase Kistler ahead of the game. They discussed the start of their season, some personnel, what they think of the opposition, and some keys to victory.

This game marks the 19th in the series, according to wyoming-football.com records. The first meeting was in 1983. Powell leads the series, 10-8. Seven of those games have been in the playoffs, which included three state championship meetings in 2006, 2011, and 2013. They’ve played four times in the last two seasons. The Bearcats have won the last three in the series.

The kick-off is at 6 p.m. at Panther Stadium in Powell.
