BLUE CROSS/BLUE SHIELD OF WYOMING GIRLS HONOR

Anderson made her prep debut in softball last week. She helped the Rock Springs Tigers to two road wins in conference play and a 4-3 start to the 2024 season. Anderson had a .667 batting average in her first week of high school action. She finished with 12 hits over seven games. Nine of those were extra-base hits. Anderson had seven doubles and two triples. She drove in 11 runs for her team, scored eight runs, drew one walk, and struck out only once. Anderson added one stolen base. She recorded 35 put-outs in the field with one assist and did not make an error.

WyoPreps spoke to Tarin after practice on Tuesday to look back on her first week of high school softball. She said it felt surreal, touched on her performance at the plate, her defense behind it, the two big conference victories for Rock Springs, playing in Wyoming high school softball for the first time, and more.

BLUE CROSS/BLUE SHIELD OF WYOMING BOYS HONOR

Mills won two events to lead the Sundance Bulldogs at the Laura Chord Memorial track meet in Newcastle last week. He captured first place in the high jump by clearing 6 feet. He added a second win in the discus with a toss of 135-09. Mills has pre-qualified for both events at the 2A state track meet in Casper in May. Not bad for the first meet of the season.

Mills visited with WyoPreps on Wednesday afternoon. He critiqued his performance in both events, described his transition from basketball in the winter to track and field in the spring, and understood he’s got room to improve on his conditioning, some goals he has in mind for the two events he won, what else he might be adding as the season goes along, and more.

Congrats to Tarin and Keaton!

The WyoPreps Athlete of the Week nominations are open from Fridays at 5 p.m. until Mondays at 9 a.m. Coaches, family, friends, and student-athletes can nominate deserving student-athletes. Early and late nominations are not accepted.
