It's a big week on the soccer field...and some of the craziness got started before the coaches/media polls closed.

The 4A boys voters are unanimous on which teams are #3, #4 and #5 (Central, Green River and Sheridan), but it will be the teams that will hopefully decide which is #1 and which is #2 this weekend. Laramie still holds the top spot by 1 vote over Gillette, but that matters little. Assuming things go as planned Friday, the Camels and Plainsmen will stare each other down this Saturday, at Laramie. This is last year's title game, and the 2 teams tied at Gillette, 1 month ago. First things first...Laramie has to deal with #5 Sheridan on Friday, while Gillette travels to Cheyenne South.

The 3A boys rankings did not change again, but the pot has been stirred once already this week...and maybe again this weekend. Jackson is the unanimous #1, followed by Buffalo, Lander, Powell and Star Valley. After not playing for the past 2 weeks, Powell got a huge wakeup call, earlier this week, when they lost at unranked Cody. The Panthers have to shake it off quick, because they have #2 and #1 back-to-back this weekend, when they travel to Buffalo on Friday and host Jackson on Saturday.

Boys Regional Rankings: The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has released its latest rankings. No Wyoming teams are ranked nationally, but #8 Laramie and #10 Jackson are ranked in Region 3, which consists of teams in Wyoming, Iowa, Nebraska and Utah.

For the second straight week...there is a new #1 in girls soccer. This time it's in the 4A ranks, as Laramie has climbed to the top unanimously, after beating former #1 East last week. The Lady Plainsmen will take their act on the road to #4 Sheridan and unranked Gillette this weekend. East drops to #2, but stays ahead of undefeated and #3 Green River. The Lady Wolves should get a good test, when they host #5 Natrona and unranked Kelly Walsh this weekend.

The 3A girls rankings suffered a shake up before the polls closed. Lander is still the unanimous #1, but it was #2 Cody that got surprised at home vs. unranked Powell. The Fillies hope to recover, when they host defending champion Jackson...a team responsible for 1 of their 2 losses. Meanwhile, the unranked Lady Panthers will press their luck again this week, when they host #5 Buffalo on Friday. Elsewhere, #4 Star Valley had to settle for a tie at home vs. Jackson, and hope to get back into the win column, when they host #3 Worland on Saturday.

Girls Regional Rankings: Like the boys, no Wyoming girls team is ranked nationally, by the NSCAA. #9 Laramie is ranked in Region 5, which consists of teams from Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, California, and Alaska.
