Despite some losses, the Burns Broncs want to follow up a solid 2022 season with another good showing in 2023.

Burns was stop No. 8 on the preseason football tour last Friday morning. WyoPreps got a glimpse of the Broncs, who compete in Class 2A.

The WyoPreps Preseason Football Tour is back for another year. It allows us to visit with players and coaches from various programs ahead of the new season.

This year’s tour kept us closer to home, as we roamed through the southeast portion of the state.

WyoPreps spoke to senior De’Drick Nichols and junior Mason Medley about the first week of practice, what the emphasis was from the coaches, having more on their shoulders during this upcoming season, what they expect in the 2A East, some keys for the season, and areas to polish up before game No. 1.

Broncs’ head coach Travis Romsa enters his second season at the helm of the Burns team. He discussed how practice was going, what this year’s team would be like, counting on guys in different roles, what they still need to focus on, and more.

The Broncs went 4-5 during the 2022 season. That included a 4-3 mark in conference games. Burns lost at Lyman, 23-20, in the first round of the 2A playoffs last October.
