Coming off a six-win season, the Lingle-Ft. Laramie Doggers are looking to build off last year’s success.

The WyoPreps Preseason Football Tour is back for another year. It allows us to visit with players and coaches from various programs ahead of the new season.

This year’s tour keeps us closer to home, as we roam through the southeast portion of the state.

The fifth stop on this year’s preseason tour was a stop in Lingle to check out the Class 1A-9 Man Doggers.

Senior Nolan Spears and junior Loudon Bremer were two key members of last year’s squad. They’ll be counted on in the new season. WyoPreps discussed how the start of practice for a new season has gone, how this year’s squad is coming together, knowing they’ll be an undersized team and more.

Third-year LFL head coach Brandon Gifford understands the ebb and flow of their low numbers but feels good about the core that they have. He stressed the effort by the players, discussed some changes in the coaching staff that have changed the culture of the team, what they’ll emphasize as they prepare for a game in Week 1, plus how the 9-man division looks this season, and more.

The Doggers went 6-3 last year and took third in the East Conference. They lost to Rocky Mountain in the first round of the Class 1A 9-man playoffs.
