A more veteran Buffalo Bison squad will be looking to make more noise in the 3A ranks during the upcoming 2022 season.

After a two-year drop to Class 2A, this will be Buffalo’s third year back in 3A. After a 1-6 campaign in 2020, the Bison improved to 5-4 last year and reached the first round of the playoffs. The season didn’t conclude the way they hoped, as Buffalo lost its last three games of 2021.

Transition to 2022, and the Bison return an all-state receiver in Blake Bell and four more all-conference players. It’s a great nucleus to build around.

The fourth stop on the WyoPreps Preseason Football Tour allowed us to see a little of an early morning Buffalo practice. Seniors Brogan Byram and Bell, plus head coach Rob Hammond talked with us about higher expectations, embracing the challenge of trying to take that next step, some of their keys, and more.

Coach Hammond enters his 11th season as the head coach.

Following a scrimmage next week with Lovell, the Bison open the 2022 season at home versus Newcastle on Sept. 2.
