It looks like Dickinson State in North Dakota has been a preferred destination for Wyoming high school athletes. Add Piper Perez of Burns to the list as she will join the Blue Hawk cross-country and track programs.

In cross country, Perez finished 11th at the 3A state meet with a time of 20.46.89. She did finish 2nd in the 3A East regional meet with the remarkable Sydney Thorvaldson of Rawlins winning that race. As a sophomore, she took 2nd at the 2A state meet in 21.02.99. Perez placed 21st in her junior season at state cross country.

Perez was busy in track and field with a 9th place finish at the 2A state meet in Casper in the 1600 meter run and 15th in the 400 meters. She also ran on 2 relays for the Broncs as her squad placed 4th in the 4x800 and 8th in the 1600 sprint medley. In the 2020 indoor track season, Perez competed for Cheyenne East and finished 21st in the 800 but ran on the East 4x400 meter relay team that placed 9th and the 1600 medley that took 8th.
