Cooper Lakin of Burns Commits to Chadron State for Football
Cooper Lakin of Burns will further his football career at Chadron State in Nebraska. Lakin was a defensive for Burns earning all-state status as he led 2A in defensive points. He was in on a whopping 126 tackles, 60 of them solo with 5.5 sacks. Lakin also recovered 2 fumbles, 1 interception, and 1 blocked punt.
On offense, Lakin was all over the place 346 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns. He caught 31 balls for 308 yards and 3 TDs plus he threw a touchdown pass and had a punt return for a score. Lakin was an all-conference selection in 2A in his junior season. He also plays basketball for the Broncs averaging 2 points and 4 rebounds per game.
In track and field, Lakin placed 7th in the long jump at the 3A State Meet in May going 18 feet 11.5 and his 1600 sprint medley team took 5th place at state. He also qualified for the state championships in the 400 meters.
Chadron State is a division II school that competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
