The conference championships in cross-country will take place on Thursday and Friday at six venues in the state. Wyoming High School 3A teams will compete in Lander and Newcastle on Thursday. On Friday, the Class 2A races will be at Dayton and Ethete. 4A will also have its two meets on Friday, one in Casper and the other in Sheridan. Only a few teams will not compete this week.

This will be the final tune-up before next week’s state championships in Cheyenne, WY. The host sites provided the start times.

Thursday, Oct. 16

3A East in Newcastle at the Newcastle C.C. – Buffalo, Burns/Pine Bluffs, Douglas, Glenrock, Newcastle, Rawlins, Torrington, Wheatland.

Rawlins freshman Jamie Dirck won the girls' race by six seconds. Buffalo took the girls' team title. Ethan Rayo of Buffalo took 1st in the boys' race and led the Bison to the team championship.

3A West in Lander at Lander Community & Convention Center/Disc Golf Course – CANCELED - due to poor course conditions and road closures.

 

Friday, Oct. 17

2A West (or 5 Rivers Conference) in Ethete at the Wyoming Indian HS Arapahoe Charter, Burlington, Fort Washakie, Rocky Mountain, St. Stephens, Thermopolis, Wind River, Wyoming Indian.

Burlington freshmen Kelli McNiven and Kellen Winters won the individual races. The Wyoming Indian girls and Burlington boys topped the team rankings.

2A East (Powder River Conference) in Dayton at Tongue River HS Big Horn, Hulett, Moorcroft, Lusk, Sundance, Tongue River, Wright.

Lyla Marney of Big Horn won the girls' race, and Tobyn Teigen of Wright captured 1st in the boys' race. Big Horn swept the team crowns.

Girls Team Scores = Big Horn 18, Tongue River 26, Lusk 41.

Boys Team Scores = Big Horn 17, Tongue River 31, Wright 37.

4A East in Sheridan at the Sheridan VA Hospital Grounds Campbell County, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Laramie, Sheridan, Thunder Basin.

Malea Adams-Case of Central won the girls' race and led the Indians to the team title. Eli Balkenbush won the boys' division and helped the Broncs to the team crown.

4A West in Casper at Paradise Valley G.C. Evanston, Green River, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Natrona County, Riverton, Rock Springs, Star Valley.

Lexi Longhurst of Kelly Walsh was the girls' champion, and Colton Cranney of Star Valley won the boys' division. The KW girls and Star Valley boys finished 1st in the team standings.
