With a #1 seed on the line in the 3A football ranks, Douglas rose to the occasion and scorched Lander 45-0 on Friday night. The Bearcats finished the regular season at 7-1 and 5-0 in the East Conference.

Douglas jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter over Lander thanks to a 27-yard run for a touchdown from quarterback Trey Rinn and then Rinn threw a TD pass to Brock Pyle.  The Bearcats had an even more productive 2nd quarter as running back Karson Ewing bulled his way into the end zone from 2 yards out to increase the lead to 21-0. Ewing had 2 more rushing touchdowns in the quarter from 16 and 4 yards out so, at halftime, the Cats led 38-0. Ewing added a 19-yard run for a score and the Bearcat defense held Lander out of the end zone.

So Douglas will host Powell on Friday night in the first round of the 3A playoffs. Powell will come into that game with a record of 4-5. Lander made the playoffs as well as the #3 seed from the East with a record of 5-3. The Tigers will be on the road in the quarterfinal round in Afton to take on Star Valley.
