Expected Moves Came in the Latest WyoPreps Football Rankings
A new team in 3A and changes in two other classes were part of the new WyoPreps Coaches and Media Football Poll.
Teams traded spots in both the 2A and 1A 9-Man divisions. Two other classes stayed the same.
The Lander Tigers were the new entrant into the rankings in Week 8. They join Class 3A at No. 5. The top four in that classification remained Cody, Star Valley, Douglas, and Buffalo. The Broncs were on top with 21 of the 22 first-place votes.
In 2A, after last Friday’s head-to-head victory, the Big Horn Rams and Tongue River Eagles traded spots in the poll. Lovell stayed at No.1 with 19 of the 21 first-place votes. Big Horn jumped from fourth to second and earned a pair of first-place votes. Lyman held in third, while Tongue River dropped to fourth. The Eagles are only three points ahead of Cokeville. The Panthers are still fifth.
The last minor change was in Class 1A-9 Man, where Shoshoni and Wind River flipped position for the second straight week. Pine Bluffs is a unanimous choice for No. 1. The Hornets received all 22 first-place votes. The Wranglers’ win over the Cougars last week pushed Shoshoni up to second, and they got all of the second-place votes. Wind River fell just one spot to third, while Big Piney and Southeast stayed at four and five.
Class 4A had no movement again. It was the same top five for the third consecutive week. Sheridan was at the top with all but one first-place vote. Cheyenne East, Natrona County, Cheyenne Central, and Thunder Basin rounded out the top five.
For the fifth straight week, the Class 1A 6-man rankings are the same. Little Snake River garnered all 15 first-place votes and was No. 1. They are followed by Dubois, Burlington, Encampment, and Kaycee in the top five.
