Cheyenne east opened the season at home on Friday meeting the Gillette Camels and east had the upper hand start to finish. in the first quarter alone. East put 20 points on the board starting with quarterback Graden Buell tossing a 20 yard TD pass to Chance Aumiller to make it 7-0. That was followed by a Christian Anderton 1 yard run for a score and another TD connection from Buell to Aumiller that covered 49 yards to increase the lead to 20.

 

The Thunderbirds were equally productive in the 2nd quarter as Buell threw his 3rd TD pass of the game, this time to Jackson Hesford for 13 yards. The 2 point try was good so it was 28-0. later in the quarter, Anderton ran for his TD of the game and Buell threw his 4th TD of the contest with a 37 yard hook up to Aumiller who had a tremendous game. Gillette's lone score came in the 4th quarter as Ashton Johnson threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Tanner Hillard but Cheyenne East handled Gillette 41-7 to start the season. East will be in Casper this week to meet Kelly Walsh while Gillette will be in Casper as well to meet Natrona.
