For the first time since 2009, the Cheyenne Central Indians advanced to the semifinals of the Class 4A football playoffs.

Cheyenne Central rallied for a 20-16 victory over Rock Springs last Friday night at Riske Field.

Carter Lobatos ran for 213 yards and three touchdowns in the victory. His 48-yard TD run with a little more than three minutes left proved to be the game-winner.

Lobatos’ first TD came in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead. Rock Springs answered with the next 16 points. Landon Toth had a touchdown run, followed by a safety, and then a 99-yard TD pass from Seth Hymas to Favor Okere. It was 16-7 Tigers at the half.

Neither team scored in the third. Lobatos’ four-yard TD run pulled Central within 16-14 before his game-winner with under four minutes remaining.

Rock Springs got inside the Indians’ 20-yard line, but an interception on fourth down sealed the Central victory.
