Kaycee Rolls To 1A Volleyball Championship
Kaycee certainly had the personnel to be a #1 seed at the 1A State Tournament. But a funny thing happened on the way to state as the Bucs had a rough regional tournament and finished as the #3 seed. So it would be an uphill climb for Kaycee and they were ready to scale the mountain.
Kaycee opened some eyes with a 3-0 win over a very good Little Snake River team and followed that up with a 3-1 win over Southeast who was the #1 seed from the East. So Kaycee took on 4-time defending champion Cokeville in the title match and the Panthers had lost to just one 1A opponent over the last 4 years. Well, make it 2 as Kaycee stunned Cokeville 26-24, 25-17, 14-25, and 25-18. Everything seemed to go Kaycee's way in the state tournament and sometimes you have to create their own luck.
Kaycee ended up 30-5-1 on the season and won their first state title since 2010. Cokeville finished the year at 21-13. Check out our video of the proceedings at the Ford Center in Casper on Saturday night along with a few photos in our gallery. Enjoy!
