It took a #1 to help beat a #1.

High School athletes dream of getting that scholarship and moving up to play at the next level.

There maybe no one out to a hotter start at the collegiate level, than a former Natrona County High School Filly.

Miss Wyoming Basketball and 3-time Wyoming Gatorade Player of the Year Kaylee Johnson, started in the first 2 games for the Stanford University Women's Basketball team, and did her part with 8 points and 13 rebounds, as the 6th ranked Lady Cardinals defeated then #1 UConn 88-86 in OT, on Monday, November 17th, snapping the Lady Huskies' 47-game win streak in the process.

As of the time of this posting, Johnson has started both games for Stanford.

She scored 2 points and had 4 rebounds in a season-opening 96-63 win home vs. Boston College on Friday, November 14th.

Unfortunately, the Lady Cardinals played it too close to the hilt after the win vs. UConn, and lost home vs. Texas on Thursday, November 20th, 87-81 in OT.

She would help her team rebound, on Monday, November 24th, with her first double-double (10 points, 22 rebounds), in a 70-65 win at New Mexico.

On Monday, December 1st, she was named Pac-12 Freshmen of the Week for November 24-30, 2014.

Recently, with the help of the Stanford Univ. Athletic Department, we were able to conduct a phone interview with Ms. Johnson, and she talked about the win vs. UConn, basketball in general, and life in the Stanford area.
