Hunter Harris of Lovell has committed to play football for the Black Hills State Yellow Jackets in Spearfish, SD.

Harris signed his letter of intent surrounded by family and friends in a recent and small gathering in Lovell.

An All-State performer for the Bulldogs during the 2019 season, Harris helped Lovell to a 6-3 record and a berth in the Class 2A playoffs last fall. He was a three-year varsity player for the Bulldogs.

Hunter ran for 494 yards and 11 touchdowns last season. He added 15 catches for 175 yards. Harris finished 10th in Class 2A in scoring, which included a defensive TD. Hunter was 26th in Class 2A at 12.1 defensive points per game He totaled 109 points for the season with 60 total tackles, two tackles for loss, and three sacks. Harris also had two pass breakups and a pair of blocked kicks.

Hunter was chosen as an alternate on the North Team for the 2020 Wyoming Shrine Bowl, which was canceled earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides football, Harris also played varsity basketball for the Bulldogs the last two seasons.

Black Hills State University competes at the NCAA Division II level and is part of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). The Yellow Jackets were 3-8 in the 2019 season.
