Lusk and Southeast met in the 1A state championship in 9 Man football back in 2020 with Southeast prevailing in that one. The teams met again on Friday in Lusk with the host Tigers holding on for a 38-32 win, giving them a #2 seed in the playoffs and a home playoff game.

This game featured two outstanding running backs, Aiden Applegarth of Lusk and Ryan Clapper of Southeast. Each scored a touchdown in the first quarter for their teams with Applegarth adding a 2nd quarter TD. Clapper had a 46 yard run to the end zone and a 37-yard gallop for a touchdown in the 3rd quarter.

Lusk's defense made a big play in the 3rd quarter on a 70-yard interception  by Dylan Molzahn who also had a rushing touchdown in the contest

It was an entertaining game and Lusk is 5-2 overall and clinched a #2 seed in the 9 Man East. They'll finish the regular season at Saratoga. Southeast is 3-4 overall and 3-2 in conference play. The Cyclones will be in the playoffs as a #3 or #4 seed and will conclude the regular season at home on Friday vs. Wright.

We have more than a few excellent photographs from Lynn Clapper and Barb Rapp in our galleries. Enjoy!
