Pine Bluffs athlete Maddie Fornstrom is one of many Hornet athletes to continue their careers at the college level. Fornstrom will be attending CSU-Pueblo for track and field and earned all-state designation in the pole vault in sophomore and junior years.

As a junior in 2019, she finished 2nd at the 2A state meet as she cleared 10 feet even. She also placed 2nd in the 100 hurdles in 16.65, missing out on first place by 4 one-hundredths of a second. Fornstrom took 6th in the 300 hurdles at state in 52.11 and also placed 9th in the 2A long jump with a leap of 15 feet 1 inch.

In 2018, Fornstrom was 3rd in the 2A pole vault at the state meet in Casper clearing 9-6. She placed 4th in the 100 hurdles in 17.75 and 6th in the 300 hurdles in 52.32. Fornstom was also a 2A all-state basketball player averaging 5 points per game for the Hornets this past season.

CSU-Pueblo is a Division II school that plays in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
