Pine Bluffs Football Postgame Remarks
A year ago, the Pine Bluffs football team lost just one game and that was to Rocky Mountain in the 1A 9-man semi-finals. The Hornets remember that game and want to atone for that in 2022 with a squad that has four returning all-state players. Quarterback Stu Lerwick has a strong arm and can make plays with his feet. Running back Dalton Schaefer had over 180 yards rushing in their 34-26 win over defending champion Shoshoni. Schaefer left that game on Thursday with a shoulder/collarbone injury so his future availability remains to be seen.
This team has all the pieces to make a deep run into the playoffs and has the capability to win the whole thing. We had a chance to talk with Stu Leriwck and receiver Collin Jessen after that win over Shoshoni on Thursday night. It was a great way for the Hornets to start the season.
