Pine Bluffs Reaches Round Two of 1A 9 Man Tournament

Both Riverside and Pine Bluffs migrated from 11 Man football to 9 Man in 2020. Both teams made the playoffs in 1A 9 Man last season and both were eliminated in the first round. This season Pine Bluffs has asserted themselves by running the table so far after a 35-8 win over Riverside on Friday.

The Hornets put two touchdowns on the board in the first quarter, the first one was a 7 yard run for a score by Dalton Schaeffer which was followed by a 62-yard gallop to the end zone from Sean Rhoads.  Pine Bluffs added two more TD's in the 2nd quarter as Rhoads reeled off an 83 yard run to the house and Stu Lerwick had a 10-yard scamper for a score.

Riverside scored their only touchdown of the game in the 3rd quarter as Trenton Coronel threw a 9-yard pass to Garrett Ellis-Rudd. Pine Bluffs added a 4-yard touchdown run by Schaeffer to improve to 9-0 on the season. The Hornets will be at home for the semi-final round against Rocky Mountain on Friday. Riverside concludes the season at 4-5.
