Powell's Defense Wins the Day Over Douglas

Powell had a 3-0 record heading into their game with 2-0 Douglas on Friday in Powell and the Panther defense rose to the occasion. The Bearcats didn't get to the end zone and Powell's defense came up with a first-half pick-six from Zach Ratcliffe and that's all they would need. Powell increased that first-half advantage with a TD catch from Sam Whitlock, from the arm of Jhett Schwahn.

Powell put plenty of pressure on the Douglas offense, holding them to 141 yards total. The Bearcats put 51 points on the board the week prior vs. Belle Fourche, South Dakota so that was quite a change from one game to another.

But the season has miles to go and the big 3A game this week will be the battle of Park County as Powell takes the short trip over the Cody on Friday. Douglas will try and get back on the winning track with a home game this week against Riverton.
