Powell football player Jesse Trotter has elected to continue his football career at Black Hills State in Spearfish, South Dakota. Trotter was a 3A all-state selection for the Panthers at the receiver spot with 13 catches for 282 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2020. He averaged 21 yards per catch and 35 all-purpose yards per game. Trotter also played on defense and recorded 2 fumble recoveries, a pass block, and a defensive touchdown.

As a junior, Trotter caught 7 balls for 232 yards and a couple of touchdowns. He was a force on defense as well with a fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown. Black Hills State is a Division II school that plays in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and the school has long recruited Wyoming prep athletes for their programs.
