In a rematch from last year’s Class 1A-6 man title game, the No. 2 Little Snake River Rattlers opened the 2020 season with a 44-19 victory at No. 4 H.E.M. in Hanna last Saturday.

Kannadis Peroulis ran for 185 yards and three touchdowns, while Hadley Myers threw for 181 yards and three more scores to lead LSR to the victory.

H.E.M. scored first on a Devon Grosstick to Jase Smith TD pass but three turnovers stopped drives for the Miners in the first half.

Little Snake River responded with a drive capped by a Myers TD pass to Seth Maxson, as the Rattlers took the lead for good, 8-6. On the ensuing drive by H.E.M., Zander Risner knocks the ball out and Peroulis recovers. Another scored by LSR put them up 14-6.

Each defense would respond with a fourth-down stop. The Miners tried to take advantage but an interception by Maxson halted a drive. That led to a TD run by Peroulis and a 22-6 lead for the Rattlers.

H.E.M. put together two nice pass plays, but a mishandled snap led to a fumble that was recovered by Little Snake River. It was 22-6 at halftime.

A big pass play from Myers to Maxson set up a short TD pass to Peroulis that extended the Little Snake River lead, 30-6.

After defensive stands by both teams, H.E.M. finally got back on the board for the first time since the first quarter. Andrew Scott ripped off a 56-yard TD run that cut it to 30-13.

The Rattlers answered right back with a quick TD drive capped by Jordy Valles’ TD run. That made it 38-13.

Each team scored in the fourth quarter. The Miners got an 18-yard TD pass from Dylan Romero to Devon Grosstick. That made it 39-19 with 6:19 left. LSR came back with a Myers to Tanner Duncan 14-yard touchdown pass at the 2:56 mark.

Little Snake River finished it off with a 22-yard run by Peroulis that led to the final snaps and a Rattlers victory.
