Riverside Volleyball Post-Match Remarks

Riverside made 2 straight appearances at the 2A State Volleyball Tournament in 2020 and 2021 and finished 2nd in 2020. It was a new world this season as the Rebels played in the 1A ranks this season and took on Southeast, a group that won the 1A state title in basketball last season.

It looked dire for the Rebels as they were down 2 sets to none to the Cyclones but won the next 2 sets to force set #5. It still looked dire for the Rebels in that final set as they were down 14-10 and ended up winning 16-14. This team has a gifted group of all-around athletes who just willed their way to win.

We talked to a couple of those superb athletes in Caroline Schlattmann and Vaidyn VanderPloeg about their miraculous comeback and the road to the championship.
