The battle of Fremont County turned out to be a very competitive game as Riverton made the short trip to Lander on Friday night, Lander started the evening with a record of 3-1 while Riverton came in at 2-3. Lander used a big pass completion in the 1st quarter to set up Matisse Weaver field goal to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead. Lander put a touchdown on the board as Ty Massey threw a 5-yard pass to Jack Sweeney in the end zone on a nifty play where Massey had to reverse field. The extra point was missed and it was 9-0 Tigers. Riverton found the end zone in the 3rd quarter as Dillon Lange got it to Lucas Engle for a couple of yards and the score and that cut the gap to 9-7. Riverton had a chance to go ahead in the last minute of the game but had their field goal attempt blocked. So Lander gets to 4-1 with a 9-7 win over Riverton to drop the Wolverines to 2-4. Lander will be at Rawlins this week and Riverton will host Torrington.
