Rocky Mountain has serious state championship hopes in 1A 9-man football this year as they return a ton of talent from a team that played in the state championship game last season. They put that talent on full display as they drilled Wright to start the season on Friday 59-0. The Griz put 20 points on the board in the first quarter thanks to rushing touchdowns from Maddox Ames and Carsyn Weber. Weber also threw a TD pass to Brady Fossen.  The 2nd quarter was pretty much a repeat of the first quarter as Weber threw a Td strike to Ben Simmons and to Jackson Hanusa. In between those 2 scoring plays was a 1-yard plunge to the end zone from Hanusa so Rocky Mountain led 39-0 at halftime. Ames Weber and Hanusa added 2nd half touchdowns so the Grizzlies started the season on the right foot.

Rocky Mountain has a matinee game on Friday at Big Piney and Wright will have to figure a few things out. They have a new head coach this year in Adam Shankle who was an assistant with the program for the last two seasons. Wright does have some returning play-makers and they'll be tested again this Friday in their home opener against Southeast.
