Sheridan Takes #1 Seed in 4A Playoffs Beating Thunder Basin
The 4A regular season concluded on Friday with Sheridan knocking off Thunder Basin in Gillette 28-20. Sheridan got on the board first with a 75 yard run for a touchdown from Carter McComb but the Bolts answered right back with a field goal and a 24 yard TD connection from Ryan Baker to Kayden LaFramboise.
Baker and LaFranboise hooked up for another touchdown in the 2nd quarter on a play that covered 47 yards to bump the Bolt lead to 17-7. Sheridan had a huge answer to that play later in the 2nd quarter thanks to an 80 yard run by Colson Coon for a touchdown and a 20-yard connection for a score from Carl Askins to Dom Kaszas so the Broncs held a 21-17 lead at the halftime break.
Coon scored his 2nd Td of the game in the 3rd quarter on an 18 yard run to the end zone to increase the lead to 28-17. Thunder Basin could only muster a field goal in the 2nd half to lose by 8. The bolts had no problem moving the ball, but scoring was the obvious issue as well as turnovers.
Sheridan is 8-1 on the year and will host Cheyenne Central in the opening round of the 4A playoffs, Thunder Basin is 6-3 but will be the #5 seed and will travel to Casper to play #4 Natrona.
We have some great shots from Brian Mitchell from that Sheridan-Thunder Basin game in our gallery. Enjoy!
