Sheridan distance runner David Standish has settled on Black Hills State in Spearfish, South Dakota to continue his running career. He placed 10th at the 2020 4A state cross country meet with a time 16.42.5 as his Sheridan team placed 3rd. Sheridan won the team title in 2019 and Standish placed 13th at the state meet with a clocking of 17.25.81. Standish was 29th as a sophomore at the 2018 state meet with a time of 17.52.43.

He also ran track for Sheridan and in 2019, he placed 14th in the 1600 meters and 3200 meters at the state meet and took 14th in the 3200 in 2018.
