Sheridan’s Ben Forsythe burst on the scene of 4A boys’ swimming during the 2023-24 season. The sophomore capped his year with a pair of wins at the Class 4A Boys’ Swimming and Diving State Championships in Laramie last week. He was one of two individuals, who won two events at the state swim meet.

Forsythe touched the wall first in the 50-freestyle at 21.56 seconds. In his other individual event, Ben won the 100-breaststroke at 59.91 seconds. He was the only swimmer under one minute in that race and won by nearly three seconds.

Forsythe was dominant in his two events throughout the 4A season. He had the fastest times in Class 4A in the 50-freestyle and 100-breaststroke races. He was also in the top ten in five other events, which included second in the 100-butterfly behind only state champion Caleb Brewer.

WyoPreps’ David Settle caught up with Forsythe after the state championships. He reflected on his performance, what swimming means to him, and more.

His efforts helped Sheridan take fourth place at the 4A state championships. They were just 5.5 points out of third place.
