One of the 4a state championship contenders this season will be Thunder Basin out of Gillette and the bolts looked very impressive in their season-opening win over Cheyenne central. In the 1stquarter of this game, thunder basin scored first as quarterback mason Hamilton tossed a 25-yard TD pass to Dice Shepard to make it 7-0. Then the bolt defense came up with a safety to increase the lead to 9-0.

The 2nd quarter was just as good as the first as Hamilton threw his 2nd TD pass of the game, this time to Andre Felton. That play covered 29 yards and the Bolt lead was 16. That was followed by another big play by the Thunder Basin defense as Colton Randall came up with a 24-yard pick 6 so the bolts led 23-0 at halftime

In the 2nd half, Hamilton threw his 3rd TD pass of the game, this one going to tanner Richards from 19 yards out.  Hamilton threw for 275 yards put also was picked off 3 times. The Bolts put the finishing touches on this game as Jaxon Pikula had a 7 yard run for a score and Andre Felton had a 26-yard pick 6. Central did not have a single rushing yard in the game and threw 5 interceptions. The final thunder basin 44 and Cheyenne Central 0. The bolts will host Cheyenne south while Central will host Sheridan.
