Thunder Basin’s Tanner Richards Commits to Chadron State

Thunder Basin grad Tanner Richards will attend Chadron State for football as a walk on. In 2019, Richards had a fantastic season catching the football for the Bolts with 55 catches for 848 yards and 10 touchdowns. He averaged 15 yards per catch and had a season high 172 yards receiving vs. Sheridan. Richards also had 40 tackles on defense and 6 interceptions and was named 4A all state as a defensive back and as a receiver.

In 2018, Richards caught 43 balls for 410 yards and 5 touchdowns. His best game in his junior year also came against Sheridan as he caught 12 passes for 103 yards and a TD. He was also solid on defense with 21 tackles and was named all conference on that side of the ball.

Richards also has been a stalwart on the Gillette Roughriders American Legion baseball team for the last 2 seasons.
