A No. 1 vs. No. 3 matchup in Class 3A is the WyoPreps Big School Game of the Week, as Cody hosts Worland on Friday.

Both teams enter this game at 1-0 after wins last week. The two-time defending champion Broncs won their opener over Riverton, 49-0. The Warriors surprised fourth-ranked Powell with a 28-7 upset. That win helped vault Worland into this week’s WyoPreps Coaches and Media Football Rankings.

Cody ran for 387 yards in their opener and finished with 512 yards of total offense. Matt Nelson (126) and Luke Talich (105) both surpassed the century mark and combined for three TDs. Jackson Schroeder added two TDs on two rushes. Defensively, the Broncs allowed only 135 yards. They had eight tackles for loss, six sacks, and recovered two fumbles.

Worland sported a balanced attack in Week 1. The Warriors ran for 151 yards and threw for 152 yards. Defensively, they gave up 290 yards to the Panthers but picked off four passes. QB Kade Weber accounted for 234 yards of total offense and threw 3 touchdown passes. Brock Douzenis caught six passes for 115 yards and all 3 TDs.

In the feature video, WyoPreps visited with both head coaches, Cody’s Matt McFadden, and Worland’s Pat Sweeney. They discussed their Week 1 performance, highlighted some of their top players, and provided insight on the other team and keys for their team. Coach Sweeney even mentioned how this is a measuring stick game for his program.

The 86th meeting between Cody and Worland is on Friday night. The Broncs have won nine straight in the series and lead 51-33 all-time. There has been one tie. The series started in 1924. That information is according to wyoming-football.com.
