Torrington has a lot of motivation this season after finishing 2nd in 2A a year ago, Wheatland wants to make a name for themselves now and into the future. Those elements drove this rivalry game and at times it was choppy but Torrington found a way to beat Wheatland 21-12.

After a scoreless 1st quarter, Torrington got on the scoreboard with a 44 touchdown connection from Beau Bivens to Brendan Flock to put the Blazers in front 7-0. Wheatland would respond with a 3 run to the end zone from Aric Suko. The extra point was missed and it was 7-6. Back came Torrington with another touchdown, as Bivens got in from the doorstep so it was 14-6 at the halftime intermission.

Torrington scored in the 3rd quarter and Wheatland tallied in the 4th quarter but both defenses tightened the screws in the 2nd half. Torrington with the win is 6-2 overall and 6-0 in the 2A East. They will host Burns in their regular-season finale. The Blazers will be the #1 seed from the East in the 2A playoffs.

Wheatland is 6-2 overall and 4-2 in league play. The Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season at Newcastle and the Bulldogs have not clinched a playoff spot yet but will get the #2 seed with a win on Friday. With a number of different tie-breaking scenarios, they could take the #4 seed or miss the playoffs.
