A year ago, the Wheatland Bulldogs made it to the 2A semi-finals before being eliminated by eventual state champion Lyman. Wheatland will have to replace more than a few good players and they struggled in their week zero game with Mitchell, Nebraska losing 35-7. Mitchell scored on their opening possession with a 1-yard plunge from Santiago Castillo and scored on their 2nd possession thanks to a 47-yard touchdown connection from Cael Peters to Adriane Garza. Castillo and Peters added first-half touchdowns to give the Tigers a 28-point lead at the intermission.

Mitchell added a 2nd half TD from Hayden Umble and Wheatland did get on the board with a late touchdown but it was too little, too late. The Bulldogs will have their week 1 game at home on Friday when they host Mountain View.

Check out a few pics of that game in Mitchell from Tony Montoya in our gallery below. Enjoy!
