Wyoming High School Girls Basketball Rankings: Feb. 7, 2019
If the new coaches/media rankings are anything, then some of this weekend's games could have a post-season feel to them.
This weekend is huge in 4A, as the matchups we've been waiting for will finally happen. Thunder Basin will put their #1 ranking on the line, with back-to-back road trips to #3 Cheyenne Central and #2 Cheyenne East. Unranked Campbell County will join them on that road trip. The other big game is Friday night, when #4 Star Valley visits #5 Kelly Walsh.
4 of the top 5 teams clash vs. each other this weekend in 3A, but the #1 ranked team isn't one of them.Unanimous top team Douglas plays a pair of unranked opponents this weekend. There's 1 big game on Friday (#5 Mountain View at #3 Lyman) and 1 big game on Saturday (#2 Buffalo at #5 Rawlins).
As for 2A and 1A things are pretty quiet as teams are making their 2nd run through their quadrant/conference. The top 5 2A are unchanged from last week. It's Wyoming Indian still on top, followed by Pine Bluffs, Wright, Greybull and Big Horn.
There was a little movement in the 1A rankings. Cokeville retains the #1 spot, but Farson-Eden is now up to #2, after beating former #2, now #3 St. Stephens. It was a close vote though. F-E got the win vs. SS, but then turned around and lost to unranked Little Snake River. H.E.M. was stunned last week, by falling at unranked Encampment. The Lady Miners are now tied for #4 with Rock River, who they beat a couple weeks ago. The 2 teams rematch Tuesday of next week.
