Wyoming High School Girls Basketball Rankings: Jan. 17, 2019
Looking at the new coaches/media rankings and matching up to this week's schedule, there are lots of opportunities for unranked teams to make a move.
The top 4 teams in 4A are unchanged this week, heading into quadrant play. Thunder Basin retains their #1 spot, followed by Cheyenne East, Cheyenne Central and Star Valley. East and Central are using this week to tune up for next week's clash. Kelly Walsh is back in at #5, after being out of the rankings for a few weeks.
There's 1 big match-up this week in 3A, and both teams have been waiting for this one. On Friday, it's the title game rematch as #1 Douglas visits #2 Buffalo. Meanwhile, #3 Lyman, #4 Rawlins and #5 Mountain View have their own quadrant business to deal with this weekend.
The new 2A rankings have very little movement. Wyoming Indian, Pine Bluffs and Wright hold steady at #1, #2 and #3 respectively. Big Horn moves ahead of Greybull for #4, bumping the Lady Buffalos to #5.
There's one new team in the 1A top 5. Hanna-Elk Mountain-Medicine Bow is now in the top 5, thanks to Arvada-Clearmont dropping out after a not so great record last week. The rest of the 1A rankings are unchanged with Cokeville leading the way, with St. Stephens, Farson-Eden and Rock River behind the Lady Panthers.
Disclaimer: The rankings have no official say on post-season positioning, and are only to be used as a measuring stick on the regular season. Please don't read too much into the rankings.
