WyoPreps Game of the Week: #1 Little Snake River vs. #2 Encampment [VIDEO]
Another No. 1 versus No. 2 match-up from 6-man football is our second WyoPreps Game of the Week.
Top-ranked Little Snake River hosts No. 2 Encampment on Saturday in our fan-voted, small-school feature.
The Rattlers are 5-0 on the season and 3-0 in the conference. The Tigers also enter at 5-0 this season and 3-0 in league action.
The Carbon County rivals are separated only by a mountain. Even though the football series is limited, they know each other very well.
Little Snake River enters the game on a state-best 26-game winning streak. They are outscoring teams by a margin of 68 to 25 points per game. The Rattlers have the No. 1 offense (497 yards per game) and defense (134) in 6-man football this year.
Encampment enters this game averaging 64 points per game and gives up only 19 points per game. The Tigers have the No. 3 offense (399) and No. 2 defense (225) in 6-man football.
WyoPreps visited with Encampment head coach Kegan Willford and Little Snake River head coach Jack Cobb to preview the big game. Both coaches discuss how their team is playing, some unsung heroes on their squad, and what they see from each other. Both emphasized the importance of executing since they know each other well, but they still need to stick to their game plan.
Thanks to records at wyoming-football.com, this is only the seventh football game between LSR and Encampment. The Rattlers have won four in a row and lead the series 4-2 over the Tigers. Little Snake River won both games last year, which included a 71-8 victory in the semifinals of the playoffs. Encampment’s last win versus LSR came in the 2020 regular season. The first game in the series was in 1956.
The game is set for a 2 p.m. start on Saturday in Baggs.
