The conference title is on the line when the Bison and Bearcats play in Douglas for the WyoPreps Big School Game of the Week.

The fan vote was for a different game, but WyoPreps went in this direction based upon the importance of the game.

No. 5 Douglas hosts Buffalo on Friday night.

Both teams enter the game at 5-1 on the season and are 3-0 in the 3A East Conference.

WyoPreps discussed the game with Buffalo head coach Rob Hammond and Douglas’ head coach Jay Rhoades. Both pointed to this game being a rivalry more than it seems. They also praised their opponent. Coach Hammond talked about the continued development of his team, QB Jackson Moon, Ben Camino, Blake Bell, and Eli Patterson, plus his impression of the Bearcats, and more. Coach Rhoades likes the direction his team is heading in, how they’ve handled fewer games on their schedule, QB Jackson Hughes, Rylan Wehr, and Keltan Ewing, his team’s tough defense, facing an improved Bison squad, and more.

Douglas enters the game with the No. 1 defense in Class 3A. The Bearcats give up only 92 yards and 5.8 points per game. On offense, Douglas averages 283.5 yards and 32.2 points per game.

Buffalo is in the top four of 3A in both offense and defense. The Bison are at 342.2 yards and 33.7 points per game. They are the second-leading scoring team in the classification. Buffalo is fourth in total defense at 236.8 yards and 17.3 points per game.
