Cheyenne Central sophomore Isabel DeLay has established herself as one of the top all-around swimmers in Class 4A in 2021.

She’s the focus of a WyoPreps Spotlight Feature.

WyoPreps’ David Settle recently caught up with DeLay before a swim meet in Laramie. They discussed how her season is going, her passion for the sport, her success in the 100 breaststroke race, and more.

The sophomore has a time ranked in the top 13 of all eight swimming events in 2021.

DeLay leads the breaststroke in Class 4A with a time of 1:08.41. That is slightly ahead of defending champion Skye Rehard from Campbell County, whose best time this season is 1:08.69. DeLay finished runner-up to Rehard at last year’s state championships in the event.

In the 200 IM, DeLay has the second-fastest time behind Campbell County senior Berkeley Christensen. She is also top five in both the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke races.

DeLay teams with senior Kira Brownell to provide Cheyenne Central a formidable 1-2 punch at the top of their lineup. The Indians are one of the teams vying for the Class 4A title in 2021.
