#2 Pine Bluffs Edges #1 Shoshoni in 1A 9 Man Football

The marquee game in 1A 9 man football over the weekend was #1 Shoshoni paying a visit to #2 Pine Bluffs. In the opening quarter, Pine Bluffs grabbed a 13 point advantage thanks to a couple of touchdown passes from Stu Lerwick. The 2nd quarter was even as Shoshoni's Alex Mills threw a TD pass and ran for another score. Pine Bluffs found the end zone twice in that stanza thanks to a pair of Dalton Schaefer touchdowns from the 1-yard line so the Hornets led 27-13 at halftime.

The Wranglers got with it in the 3rd quarter as Pehton Truempler zoomed 73 yards for a touchdown on a late pitch and Nathon Cousineau caught his 2nd TD of the game and that cut the Pine Bluffs lead to 27-25. In the 4th quarter, Lerwick threw his 3rd touchdown pass of the afternoon, this time to Ryan Fornstrom giving the Hornets a 34-25 lead, and the Pine Bluffs defense held on from there.

Pine Bluffs is 5-0 and will host Lingle-Fort Laramie on Friday. Shoshoni is 4-1 and will hit the road to go to Greybull. We have a video of that game to share with you and a ton of great pics courtesy of Bridget Truempler in our gallery. Enjoy!
